1. About this Notice
Amigomap is a trading name and business division of Halloterra (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/154512/07.
This Notice explains how Halloterra uses cookies, local storage, session storage and similar browser or device technologies on the Amigomap marketing website, account and authentication pages, MapMaker, viewer, published maps and related services.
This Notice must be read with the Amigomap Privacy Policy.
2. What these technologies are
A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser. Local storage and session storage allow a website or application to retain limited information in the browser. Similar technologies may be used by a website, application or service provider to provide security, maintain a session, remember a choice, deliver requested content or understand technical operation.
Some technologies are controlled directly by Halloterra. Others are controlled by independent service providers whose functionality is used by Amigomap. Provider-managed cookie names, technical identifiers and durations may change when a provider updates its service.
3. Categories currently used
| Category | Current purpose | Current consent position |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Authentication, session continuity, account security, fraud and abuse prevention, request handling, checkout initiation and delivery of core Amigomap functionality. | Used where necessary to provide or secure the service requested by the user. |
| Functional preferences | Remembering limited user choices, such as whether the introductory MapMaker help prompt should be shown again. | Used to remember a preference requested or selected by the user. |
| Temporary session continuity | Supporting short authentication and redirect handoffs during signup, sign-in and post-authentication routing. | Used only for the relevant browser-tab session or handoff. |
| Analytics and performance | Amigomap does not currently deploy website analytics cookies or browser-storage identifiers. | Used to understand website traffic and performance. Consent will be obtained where applicable law requires it. |
| Marketing and advertising | Amigomap does not currently deploy behavioural-advertising, retargeting or cross-site marketing technologies. | Not currently enabled. If introduced, they will not be enabled before the required consent has been obtained. |
4. Current service providers and external contexts
Amigomap uses third-party providers to deliver parts of the service. Merely contacting a third-party server does not necessarily mean that the provider sets a cookie, but the provider may receive ordinary technical request information such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL and timestamp.
- Clerk, for signup, sign-in, authentication, session management and account security;
- Paddle, for checkout, payment processing, fraud prevention, tax administration and buyer support;
- Mapbox, for map rendering, map data, geocoding and related mapping functionality;
- Cloudinary, for storage, processing and delivery of images, videos and other media;
- Google Fonts, where a Customer selects a supported externally hosted font for a map;
- hosting, database, email, security and operational providers selected by Halloterra.
Those providers may process information or use their own cookies or similar technologies under their own contracts, privacy notices and cookie policies.
5. Confirmed cookie and browser-storage inventory
| Provider or area | Technology | Purpose | Duration or control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amigomap MapMaker | autoHelpShown in local storage |
Remembers that the user chose not to see the introductory MapMaker help prompt automatically again. | Persistent until the user clears browser storage, the application removes it, or the browser removes it. |
| Amigomap authentication handoff | Temporary session-storage retry marker | Prevents repeated post-authentication redirect attempts and helps recover from a short session-handoff failure. | Limited to the relevant browser-tab session and removed or overwritten as the handoff completes. |
| Clerk | Provider-managed cookies and/or browser storage | Signup, sign-in, identity verification, authentication, session continuity, account security and sign-out. | Controlled by Clerk and the Amigomap Clerk configuration. Session information expires or is removed according to Clerk's session rules, sign-out and browser controls. |
| Paddle | Provider-managed cookies or browser storage in the Paddle checkout and buyer-support context | Checkout, transaction security, fraud prevention, payment processing, tax administration and buyer support. | Controlled by Paddle under Paddle's own privacy and cookie terms. |
| Mapbox | Third-party network requests and provider-controlled technical identifiers, where used | Map rendering, map data, geocoding, security, diagnostics and performance. | No Amigomap-defined Mapbox cookie or local-storage key has been identified in the current Amigomap code. Any provider-managed technology is controlled by Mapbox under its own terms. |
| Cloudinary | Third-party media requests and provider-controlled technical processing | Loading, transforming and delivering Amigomap and Customer images, videos and other media. | No Amigomap-defined Cloudinary cookie or local-storage key has been identified in the current Amigomap code. Any provider-managed technology is controlled by Cloudinary. |
| Google Fonts, where selected | Third-party stylesheet and font-file requests | Displaying a Customer-selected supported font in a published map. | No Amigomap-defined Google Fonts cookie or local-storage key has been identified. The request is governed by Google's applicable terms and privacy notice. |
| Optional analytics or marketing tools | None currently deployed by Amigomap | Not applicable at the effective date of this Notice. | Before introducing a non-essential tool, Halloterra will update this inventory and implement consent controls where required. |
This inventory records the technologies and provider contexts confirmed from the current Amigomap implementation. Exact third-party cookie names and lifetimes may vary by provider, browser, region, provider configuration and software version.
6. Your choices and Cookie settings
Amigomap does not currently deploy optional analytics or advertising cookies, so there are presently no optional Amigomap cookie categories that need to be switched on or off through a consent-management panel.
You can use your browser settings to inspect, block or delete cookies and browser storage. Blocking or deleting strictly necessary authentication or security technologies may prevent signup, sign-in, checkout or parts of Amigomap from working correctly.
The permanent Cookie settings link on the Amigomap website currently directs to this section. If Amigomap introduces a consent-management platform for optional analytics or marketing technologies, that link will instead reopen the consent choices so that they can be changed or withdrawn.
Device permissions, including location permissions, are controlled separately through the browser or operating system.
7. Retention
Session cookies and session-storage items generally expire when the relevant session or browser-tab session ends, although an authentication provider may maintain a session for the period configured for the account.
Persistent local-storage preferences remain until they are removed by Amigomap, cleared by the user or browser, or no longer required. Third-party providers determine the duration of their own technologies under their applicable terms and configuration.
Halloterra will not retain a non-essential identifier longer than reasonably necessary for its disclosed purpose.
8. Updates and contact
We may update this Notice when the service, providers or technologies change. The effective date identifies the current version.
